    Being someone who is invested in TDPAC, I always think of the nucleus as having a nuclear angular momentum I, along with its parity (+,-), then I would look into its energy (for which it is important because we will know the energy of the released entity when the nuclear isomer decays that is to be detected by the detectors), magnetic dipole moment and electric quadrupole moment, for which the nucleus sense and interact with its environment to produce the observable to characterize a material.
